Managing Partner Ren Guangsheng of Liaoning Sun-Land Law Firm Attends the 2026 Asian Financial Forum
From 26–27 January 2026, the Asian Financial Forum 2026 (AFF) was held in Hong Kong, China. Ren Guangsheng, Managing Partner of Liaoning Sun-Land Law Firm, was invited to attend the forum and engaged in exchanges with a number of distinguished participants from the global financial, corporate, and professional services sectors. Discussions focused on topics including international investment trends, sustainable development, cross-border cooperation, and legal services for international business.
The Asian Financial Forum is an annual international financial conference jointly organised by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government and the Hong Kong Trade Development Council. Since its inception in 2007, the forum has been successfully held for 19 years. Focusing on global economic developments, financial cooperation, and innovation, the forum brings together global political and business leaders as well as financial experts, and is widely recognised as one of the most influential financial events in Asia.
This year’s forum invited more than 140 speakers from the political, business, and financial sectors worldwide, and was expected to attract over 3,600 participants from 60 countries and regions. Distinguished attendees who delivered speeches at the forum included John Lee, Chief Executive of the Hong Kong SAR; Frederick Ma, Chairman of the Hong Kong Trade Development Council; Zou Lan, Deputy Governor of the People’s Bank of China; Wu Wei, Standing Committee Member of the Shanghai Municipal Committee and Executive Vice Mayor of Shanghai; Wang Junshou, Vice Governor of Hunan Province; Tang Zhiping, Vice Governor of Shanxi Province; Klemen Boštjančič, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Slovenia; H.E. Younis Haji Al Khoori, Undersecretary of the UAE Ministry of Finance; and José Manuel Barroso, former President of the European Commission, former Prime Minister of Portugal, and Chairman of Goldman Sachs International.

Mr. Hung Pi-Cheng, BBS, JP, currently serves as Chairman of the Board of the Financial Services Development Council of Hong Kong, and is also a member of the Chief Executive’s Council of Advisers, the Exchange Fund Advisory Committee, the General Committee of the Hong Kong General Chamber of Commerce, and the Board of the West Kowloon Cultural District Authority. He has long been involved in the development of Hong Kong’s and the wider region’s financial systems. In addition, Mr. Hung serves as Group Executive Director and International Chief Executive of Standard Chartered, overseeing the Group’s business development across multiple international markets. He has previously held a number of other public roles, including Chairman of the Hong Kong Association of Banks, Board Member of Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited, Board Member of the Airport Authority Hong Kong, Board Member of the Hospital Authority, and Council Member of the University of Hong Kong.

Mr. David Gordon Eldon, GBS, CBE, JP, previously served as Chairman of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. He is currently a Senior Advisor to PricewaterhouseCoopers and holds important positions across a number of financial and public institutions.

Sir Paul Polman previously served as Chief Executive Officer of Unilever, during which time he successfully led the company’s transition toward a responsibility-driven and sustainability-oriented business model while achieving outstanding commercial performance. He is one of the co-designers of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and has long promoted global sustainable finance and corporate governance reform through board roles, impact investing, and policy advisory work. He currently serves as Chair of the One Young World Summit and The Valuable 500, and is a member of the global advisory boards of Temasek Holdings, the World Trade Organization, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, and Allianz, among others. Sir Paul has received numerous international honours and is one of the few business leaders to have been awarded the United Nations’ highest environmental honour, a British knighthood, the French Legion of Honour, Singapore’s Public Service Star, and the Oslo Business for Peace Award.

Mr. Omar Ali is currently EY’s Global Financial Services Leader, leading a team of over 2,000 partners and more than 60,000 professionals serving the global financial sector, which accounts for nearly one-third of EY’s overall business. In this role, he oversees a comprehensive practice of approximately US$15 billion, spanning banking and capital markets, wealth and asset management, and insurance, with services covering assurance, consulting, strategy, transactions, tax, and law.
During the forum, Managing Partner Ren Guangsheng also exchanged views with participating representatives and diplomats based in Hong Kong from Spain, Portugal, and Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, discussing investment environments, industrial development trends, and legal and regulatory considerations in their respective jurisdictions, and exploring future cooperation opportunities in cross-border investment and legal services.

In addition, Managing Partner Ren Guangsheng met with representatives of The Law Society of Hong Kong, holding discussions on exchanges and cooperation between the Liaoning Lawyers Association and the Hong Kong legal community in areas such as international legal practice, professional collaboration, and talent engagement.

Through participation in the 2026 Asian Financial Forum, Liaoning Sun-Land Law Firm further strengthened its connections with international financial institutions, multinational enterprises, and overseas professional organisations, and broadened its global perspective on international legal services.
