Managing Partner Matthew G.S. Ren Invited to Attend the 2026 "Africa Day" Reception Providing Professional Legal Services for New China-Africa Economic and Trade Opportunities

On the evening of May 25, the African Diplomatic Corps in China hosted a high-level diplomatic reception at the China World Hotel in Beijing to celebrate the 2026 Africa Day. Approximately 600 guests gathered, including African ambassadors to China, ambassadors from other regional organizations, senior Chinese government officials, visiting African ministers, representatives of international organizations, members of the African diaspora in China, business leaders, academics, and friends from all walks of life long committed to China-Africa friendship. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Miao Deyu attended and delivered remarks. Ambassador Martin Mpana of Cameroon, Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in China, spoke on behalf of the African diplomatic corps, and AU Commission Chairperson Mahamoud Ali Youssouf sent a congratulatory message. Matthew G.S. Ren, Managing Partner of Liaoning Sun-land Law Firm, was invited to attend this grand event.

This year's gathering carried special historical significance, marking both the 63rd anniversary of the founding of the African Union (formerly the Organization of African Unity) and the 70th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and African countries.

Managing Partner Matthew G.S. Ren had an in-depth exchange with Ambassador Martin Mpana of Cameroon, Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in China.

Notably, on May 1 this year, China officially began implementing a zero-tariff policy on a comprehensive basis for 53 African countries with diplomatic relations. This major initiative became a focal point of discussion among African ambassadors at the event. Against this backdrop, economic and trade cooperation between Liaoning and Africa has shown strong growth momentum, with trade with Africa becoming one of the key engines driving Liaoning's foreign trade expansion.

During the Africa Day reception, Matthew G.S. Ren held in-depth discussions with several African ambassadors and business representatives, engaging in pragmatic exchanges on topics such as the legal safeguards required for Liaoning enterprises investing and operating in Africa and compliance pathways for cross-border e-commerce product exports.

Liaoning Sun-land Law Firm has long been dedicated to the field of foreign-related legal services. Taking this Africa Day reception as an opportunity, the firm will further strengthen exchanges and cooperation with legal service agencies and industry chambers and business associations in African countries. Focusing on the practical needs surrounding cross-border e-commerce product exports — including trademark registration, intellectual property protection, cross-border contract review, and trade compliance management — the firm will provide specialized and precise legal solutions for Liaoning enterprises, helping them effectively prevent and mitigate cross-border business risks.

Looking ahead, Liaoning Sun-land Law Firm will continue to closely follow the broader trends in China-Africa economic and trade cooperation. By providing professional legal services, the firm will support Liaoning enterprises in deeply cultivating the African market, contributing its legal strength to promoting Liaoning's high-level opening-up and serving the building of an all-weather China-Africa community with a shared future in the new era.
